Amazon Product Video Requirements

By Joshua at Simply On Brand · Updated October 2026

A rejected video costs you days. Amazon reviews videos before they go live, and it keeps separate rules for the two places your video can run: your product page and Amazon Ads. This guide covers both, using Amazon’s own published guidance. Amazon updates its rules from time to time, so confirm the current details in Seller Central before you upload.

Who can add a video to a listing

Brand Registry is not required. According to Amazon, sellers with a Professional selling account, at least three months of selling history and live product listings can upload videos, and brand-registered sellers can too. A video shows in the main image block only if the listing has fewer than six images, so check your image count.

Product page video: the basics

  • File type: .mp4 or .mov.
  • Resolution: Amazon accepts up to 1080p and recommends the highest quality available. We film in 4K, so your 1080p picture is sharper.
  • File size: Up to 5 GB.
  • Length: Amazon allows 1 to 12 minutes and recommends 30 to 90 seconds. We aim for 30 to 60 seconds, since shoppers decide quickly.
  • Shape: Amazon does not set a shape for product page videos. We shoot landscape 16:9, the standard for product pages.
  • Rights: Make sure you have the rights to any music and footage you use. Licensed music is included in our projects.
  • Content: Amazon reviews each video against its community guidelines, and recommends showing the product accurately. It advises against stock footage and anything so abstract that it does not represent the product.

Sponsored Brands video ads: stricter rules

Video ads that run in Amazon search results follow the Amazon Ads specs.

  • Length: 6 to 45 seconds. Amazon says 20 seconds or less is highly recommended.
  • Shape: 16:9.
  • Resolution: 1280 x 720, 1920 x 1080 or 3840 x 2160 (4K).
  • File size and type: 500 MB or less, as .mp4 or .mov.
  • Frame: No black bars on any side, and no black or blank frames at the start or end.
  • Branding: Show your brand name and logo later in the video, not at the start. An end card works well.
  • Text: Keep it out of the lower-right corner, and make it big enough to read. Amazon suggests at least 50pt, and 100pt preferred, on 720p and 1080p videos.
  • Sound: A soundtrack is optional, but it must be clear when the video has no audio.

What Amazon’s ad rules say you cannot include

These come from Amazon’s moderation guide for Sponsored Brands video.

  • Deals, discounts or savings promotions, including specific prices like “$20 off”
  • Competitor names (generic phrases like “leading brand” are allowed)
  • Claims you cannot back up, since claims must match your product detail page
  • Amazon branding, trademarks or references to Amazon products
  • Customer reviews or star ratings
  • Pressuring or urgent language meant to force a click
  • Flashing, spinning or pulsating objects, text or transitions

Listing videos are reviewed against Amazon’s community guidelines. It is smart to follow the same habits there: no prices that go out of date and no claims you cannot prove.

The mistakes that get videos rejected

  • Claims that cannot be verified
  • Mentioning discounts or prices in an ad
  • Black bars or blank frames
  • Text that is too small or too close to the background color
  • Music you do not have rights to
  • Naming a competitor

If a video is rejected, Amazon shows the reason in Seller Central, so you can fix it and resubmit.

Plan the video around shopper questions

Passing review is the minimum. A video that sells answers the questions shoppers have before they buy: how big is it, how does it work, what does it feel like, and what does it look like in real life. We build a shot list around those questions and send it to you for approval before we film, so there are no surprises.

How we handle this for you

Every video we make is built to Amazon’s requirements. Amazon listing videos start at $800 and include 4K filming, one model, two locations, your logo, on-screen text and licensed music. Once your final invoice is paid, you get perpetual commercial usage rights, so the video works on your website and social channels too. You can see our recent work in the portfolio.
